Introductory step-by-step explanation for new members

Registration

Register as a member. Registration is FREE. It gives you entry to the Members Suite and the unrestricted Search Engine, as well as full viewing of genealogical records, tributes and family trees. Your Username will be your email address and your Password will be automatically generated and sent to you by email, and can be changed by you later.

You must logon whenever you upload new records, edit old records, make tributes or memorials or create or edit your family tree.

Logon when you are ready to start and you will be presented with a clear choice of all the options.

New Records

When logging on the very first time and choosing Genealogy Add or My Family Tree, you will be able to create your initial record by simply following each step that is systematically presented  to you. It is a good idea to have all the relevant information on hand  including your picture files in gif or jpeg format, although you can edit and change records as well as upload pictures at any convenient time. A picture file must have a maximum size of 200 by 250 pixels.. Where text is requested, such as memorial or historical  comments, you will be able to cut and paste.

After creating a record, you can preview it and make any necessary changes. The initial genealogical record is free so to be able to create more records, you will have to purchase a block of records (blanks) at the Members Suite payable through the National Australia Bank Secure Internet Payment Service. The payment submission is on a 100% guaranteed secure site. You will then be able create subsequent records. There is no necessity to use all your blank records at one sitting. They can be used whenever you like and will be held as a credit balance for you in your account. The balance at any time can be seen at My Account

If you have created tributes or memorials, you will be sent to the invoicing page where the charge for them will be itemised. You will then be requested to pay for them through the National Australia Bank Secure Internet Payment Service.

After payment has been made, your records will be transferred to the permanent database.

Editing

Only records created by you when logged on under your username, can be edited by you. Changes such as births and deaths can be made, but existing records of family  members cannot be deleted. Tributes and Memorials or entries on your Family Trees can be deleted. To avoid accidental deletions, a warning window will pop up. Accidental deletions can result in time consuming reconstruction so you should be wary of this facility.

Please refer to our comprehensive Help file which you will find after entering My Family Tree.
